Letter from Father to Son
Hey Buddy,
I just wanted to let you know that, that is what
you are to me; you are my Hunting buddy, my fishing buddy, and my
baby boy all rolled up in one. I know we promised so many things
that we did not get to do. So many places we didn’t get to go, so
much left to do. I want you to know that you are my one true Hero
and you will always be my hero. One thing that I can say about you
is that you are so full of love; you filled our life full of love
and joy. Your smile just lights up a room, your beautiful blue eyes
that we always got lost in. I remember the day you were born, I
had the first diaper duty. I remember your first steps, your first
word “Daddy”. I remember the day Hailey was born, you stayed up
the whole time until she was born at 2 a.m. You just couldn’t wait
to be a big brother, you were so proud to be a big brother, and
then the moment you had her in your arms you fell asleep.
I just want you to know your Mommy and I are
so proud of you, you are so big and strong. I wish that I could
be half as strong as you were. We will miss you so much, Hunter.
God gave you a gift, and it was the gift of love. You have touched
so many people in your short 6 years, than most people will ever
meet in a lifetime. I remember you telling us about the angels talking
to you. I thought they were here just to keep you safe, but you
knew different, didn’t you Buddy? You just wanted Mommy and Daddy
not to worry. You know Hunter I was praying, and asking God why
didn’t he give us our miracle and heal you. Do you know what he
told me? He said, “I did give you your miracle, you were our miracle,
and I did heal him, just not the way you wanted. But now that you
are cancer free, no more hurt, no more pokes, no more doctors. But
when we get to heaven you will have to tell us all about it, Hunter,
you never said one word about taking all the treatments, never one
word about the medicines you had to take. You never complained or
asked why. Don’t worry baby, we will make sure that there is always
a wagon for you, with your name on it. I will never go hunting or
fishing without thinking of my buddy. I also promised you to fly
and you did buddy, you went into the clouds with the angels and
they took you home. Hunter, I promise I will see you again. I can’t
wait to see you with all your hair and that beautiful smile and
those blue eyes. So this is not good-bye, this is see you later.
You will always live on in our hearts and through the love you’ve
shared.
Love you always buddy!
Your Daddy
God's
Loan
"I'll
loan you for a little time
a child of mine," He said,
"For you to love the while he lives,
and mourn for when he's dead,
It
may be six or seven years,
or twenty-six or seven,
But you will, till I call him back,
take care of him for Me?
He'll
bring his charms to gladden you,
and should his stay be brief,
You'll have his lovely memories
as solace for your grief.
I
cannot promise he will stay,
since all from earth return,
But there are lessons taught down there
I'll want this child to learn.
I've
looked this wide world over
in my search for teachers true,
And from the throng that crowd life's lanes,
I have selected you.
Now,
will you give him all your love,
nor think the labor vain,
Nor hate Me when I come to call
to take him back again?
I
fancied that I heard you say,"
Dear Lord, Thy will be
done,
For all the joy Thy child shall bring,
the risk of grief we'll run.
We'll
shelter him with tenderness,
we'll love him while we may,
And for the happiness we've known,
forever grateful stay.
But
should the angels call for him
much sooner than we planned,
We'll brave the bitter grief that comes
and try to understand.
